Have a great two years
My time at NTU GMBA program and UCLA Anderson
By Huan-Hsin (Jeremy) Sung

I love NTU! National Taiwan University College of Management – one of the nation’s most exclusive schools and the alma mater of leaders, executives in business and society, offers GMBA program from 2006. It definitely became my first priority when I considering pursue my MBA degree. The past two years was proved a life-changing adventure for me. The GMBA program enabled me to convert practical experience and theoretical knowledge into managerial wisdom, and has equipped me to be able to compete in an uncertain, chaos business environment.

I have now spent two of the best years of my life at business school, and I feel truly grateful to have had the chance to exchange to UCLA Anderson. Study abroad offers a unique opportunity for me to explore another culture while earning credit towards graduation. Beyond that, exchange program to UCLA Anderson offers these benefits:

 Prestige Network: Thanks to the distinguished scholars, professors and outstanding students’ contribution, UCLA has one of the prestigious alumni network in U.S. Once you belong to this network, you can have the same privilege with UCLA Anderson’s students, you can access and download any alumni information when you need it, which may help you to have better chance to find your dream job, and have advice for your career management.
 Reasonable Cost: Since GMBA students pay NTU’s tuition; costs are low. And you still have the same right and privilege with those Anderson students who pay $39,000 a year. Students pay tuition to NTU while room and board are paid directly to the host university abroad. Exchange students can always take advantage of this program and choose any class (no more than 4) in one quarter while you are at Anderson. Take myself for example, I took 3 elective courses and audit one class at Anderson, and I fortunately got a $7,000 scholarship from CIP Executive Yuan (Taiwan), so I almost pay nothing by myself while I stay in UCLA. How many money did I save? You can do the math.
 Good Reputation: UCLA Anderson is recognized among the best schools of management in the world. UCLA Anderson's Full-Time MBA program is ranked 11th in 2008, and part-time MBA is #1 in U.S. You will have MBA classmates not only from many countries who studying in LA, but also part-time MBAs, who mostly are managers and executives in LA area, Silicon Valley and even San Diego. This year I have team members from Mobile phone Company (San Francisco) and Biotech Company (San Diego). They chose Anderson and willing to commute as a flight attendant because of its good reputation.
 Great Location: LA region is the world center for media and entertainment, with more than 65% of the industry’s global revenue headquartered in this town. And Los Angeles is the most culturally diverse region in America; it is comprised of people from over 140 cultures speaking 135 languages, with the largest number (3.4 million) of foreign-born resident in the nation. Unlike USC in downtown LA, UCLA was located in Westwood, a small city surround by Beverly Hills and Santa Monica, but it still belongs to LA country. You can image there are lots of fun and convenience to live in Westwood, not to mention it was more safe to stay in Westwood than live in downtown LA.
 Endless Recreation: Every Thursday there have Anderson Afternoon, which sponsored by different companies and students clubs. It has various topics and it offer great chances for all students to know each other. To welcome prospective students, they also kicked off on weekend with some events that included an early morning hike, a trip to the Getty Center, an afternoon bike ride, beach volleyball, a luncheon hosted by clubs, and a student run Open House tour. I’ll say beyond imparting those intellectual qualities, UCLA Anderson also try to lay a foundation for the creative use of leisure time- especially in a generation such as ours that is likely to enjoy more time away from work than ever before.
 New Facility: They approach an important milestone in the history of the UCLA Anderson School of Management--celebrating their 75th anniversary in 2010. Over $3 million in improvements at Anderson by fall, students will find a significantly redesigned Rosenfeld Library ,also in the works is a new ultra-modern classroom, the first to be built at Anderson since the current complex opened in 1995, on the first floor of Gold Hall. If you will go to Anderson this year, congratulation, lucky you, you can enjoy the new facility.
 Rewarding Experience: Students can gain confidence, and a greater sense of independence, cultural competency, language skills and self awareness from being immersed in another culture for an exchanging period. These skills are important in an increasingly global marketplace.

Overall speaking, attending an MBA program involves a very significant financial and intellectual investment. Be sure to find the right choice for you. A good program will change your perspective and you will find your life never be the same. Get ready for a life-changing adventure!
